About Ackerman

Ackerman Elementary is located in Millard, a suburb of Omaha, Nebraska. Ackerman opened for classes in the fall of 1982. Our current enrollment is approximately 540.

Our school is named after Robert L. Ackerman. Dr. Ackerman was a member of the Millard Public Schools Board of Education for 11 years, serving as the president for two terms. With a life-long commitment to education, Dr. Ackerman held many jobs, including teacher and principal in the Westside Community Schools. For over 20 years, Dr. Ackerman was a Professor at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, where he became chairman of the Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education.
